Lion House Dinner Rolls

After visiting Desert Book one day and buying a roll, I decided to learn how to make them.  Lucky for me, there is a link on You Tube that helped to me.  Who knew there is a specific way to roll these up so they look the way they do?

Lion House Rolls

2 C. Water
2/3 C. Dry Milk
2 T. Dry Yeast
1/4 C. Sugar
2 tsp. Salt
1/3 C. Butter
1 egg
5+ C. Flour

Make sure to use a thermometer and make the water (105-120 degrees).  Mix the milk into the water in your mixer.  Place the yeast in the milk and water mixture with sugar, butter, egg and 2 cups of flour.

Mix until everything is wet.  Gradually add the other three cups of flour, 1/2 cup at a time.  Mix with bread attachment until it holds together.  Place dough in a large, greased bowl.  Cover with saran wrap.  Let sit until dough doubles in size.  Don't let this dough over rise.  It will taste yeasty.

After dough has doubled in size.  Watch the video and follow the directions.  You need to roll out the dough into a large rectangle.  Spread softened butter over dough and then cut it so it is in two symmetrical rows.  You then cut each piece so it is 2 by 4 inches and pick it up and twist it in your hands to make the rolls look like this.

Place rolls on cookie sheets to rise.  Bake in 350 oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.  Brush rolls with butter.
