With summer upon us, how can you not earn for this delicious side dish. I came upon this recipe and have been making it for the past seven years. My middle boy Mark absolutely loves them. But then, why wouldn't he. He loves brown sugar and that is a main ingredient!
2 Cans (29 oz.) Pork and Beans (these are the big cans. Use 4 smaller cans)
1 Large Onion,
1 C. Ketchup
1 C. Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1 lb. Bacon, cut up
Preheat oven at 325 degrees. Cut bacon into small pieces. Chop onions. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and pour into a 9 X 13 pan. Cover in foil and bake in the over for 2 1/2 hours. The bacon is fully cooked and the onions soften up nicely while baking.
Take the tin foil off and cook for another 30-45 minutes. I like my beans thick and sticky. Some people like their juicy. Cook them uncovered until they look like what you like. Remember, you can always put them bake in and cook longer if you take them out too early.
